Gabriel Sakellarisidis calls Greek centre‑left politics fluid, urges cooperation

Gabriel Sakellarisidis, leader of the New Left, told ERTnews that the centre‑left arena in Greece is "very fluid" after recent party splits. He said the fragmentation creates space for new programmatic coalitions and that New Left will pursue an autonomous path, focusing on housing, energy, taxation, precision agriculture and peace.

He issued an open invitation to other left‑wing forces to discuss joint policy proposals, arguing that a united front could challenge Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Sakellarisidis criticised the tactics of larger parties, noting that former Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras acted like a “trivial” figure when the New Left parliamentary group dissolved, and warned against “round‑about, empty statements” in current political discourse.
