Gabriel Sopeña and JJ Fuentes release Lorca-inspired EP

Musicians Gabriel Sopeña and JJ Fuentes have released ‘¡Ay Girasol!’, an EP released under the Balcón Abierto de Federico García Lorca project. The musical work features four settings of texts by the renowned poet Federico García Lorca, coinciding with the 90th anniversary of his death.

The collaboration aims to bridge generations by interpreting Lorca’s words through the lens of singer-songwriter music. The title track, ‘¡Ay Girasol!’, is derived from a fragment of the theatrical piece ‘Así que pasen cinco años’. The project emphasizes a respectful approach to Lorca’s literary legacy, blending traditional Spanish musical influences with contemporary sensibilities.
