Gabriel Ștrempel centenary celebrated with bust unveiling in Pomi

A major commemorative event was held in Pomi, Satu Mare County, to celebrate the centenary of the birth of Gabriel Ștrempel, an eminent figure in Romanian culture, honorary member of the Romanian Academy, and former director general of the Romanian Academy Library.

The ceremony, titled ‘Centenar Gabriel Ștrempel – întoarcerea acasă’, included the unveiling of a stone bust of the academician created by Marcel Stanciu, followed by a religious blessing ceremony. Local officials, including the mayor of Pomi, the president of the Satu Mare County Council, and the prefect of the county, participated in the event to honor Ștrempel’s legacy and his deep connection to his birthplace.

Additional tributes included the renaming of the local Cultural Center to the ‘Gabriel Ștrempel’ Cultural Center, a book exhibition organized by librarians from the Satu Mare County Library, and the screening of a documentary film detailing his life and professional achievements.
