Gabriel Varela wins 26th Grande Prémio Alves Barbosa

Gabriel Varela, representing Cantanhede Cycling/Vesam, won the 26th Grande Prémio Alves Barbosa. The competition concluded on September 13, following a series of stages including a team time trial and a decisive stage between Coimbra and Montemor-o-Velho.

Varela secured the overall individual classification with a total time of 4h21m50s for the 174.6-kilometer course, finishing 43 seconds ahead of Renato Sousa. He also led the points and mountain classifications. His performance included a dominant second stage victory in Águeda, where he finished the 83.5-kilometer stretch with a 56-second lead over the second-place rider.

Cantanhede Cycling/Vesam also claimed the general team classification. The event, which emphasizes youth development in cycling, featured Filipe Granjinho winning the final stage and concluded with a climb to the Castle of Montemor-o-Velho.
