Gabriela Domínguez accuses former SNTE leaders of silence over teacher pension crisis
Gabriela Domínguez Franco, the Finance Secretary for SNTE Section 42 and a potential candidate for union leadership, has accused previous union administrations of complicit silence regarding a pension crisis. The issue affects 1,064 state teachers in Chihuahua whose retirement schemes and permanence in the State Civil Pension Solidarity Fund have been compromised.
Domínguez Franco stated that former union leaders were aware of the situation following the 2013 pension law reform but failed to act. She criticized former officials who are now presenting themselves as defenders of workers' rights, claiming they are instead “trafficking with their hope and certainty.”
She defended the current Sectional Executive Committee, asserting that the present leadership chose to take the political cost of informing the affected workers about their precarious situation and calling for greater transparency and accountability.
