Gabriela Ruse discusses relationship with tennis player Nuno Borges

Tennis player Gabriela Ruse has discussed her relationship with Portuguese player Nuno Borges, noting the unique support and challenges of being in a relationship with a fellow professional on the circuit.

Ruse shared that while the relationship provides unprecedented support, it can be difficult when both players face losses, creating a “depressive atmosphere” in their shared space. She also requested privacy during his matches, asking media not to place microphones in his room while she is present.

The pair had originally planned to compete together in mixed doubles at the US Open, but changes to the tournament's scheduling system prevented the pairing. Ruse also mentioned that friend Paula Badosa initially advised against dating a tennis player but later approved of Borges after meeting him.
