Gabriele Amorth commemorated 10 years after death

A conference was held at the Basilica of St. Mary Queen of the Apostles in Rome to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the death of Father Gabriele Amorth, a renowned priest and the founder of the International Association of Exorcists.

Amorth, a member of the Society of St. Paul, was recognized by speakers as a man of deep spirituality and sensitivity to human suffering. He claimed to have performed over 160,000 exorcisms during his life. The event, promoted by the International Association of Exorcists and other religious groups, highlighted his legacy of providing theological training and support to priests to ensure the ministry was not exploited by superstition or sensationalism.

Speakers noted that Amorth viewed his work fundamentally as an ‘act of charity,’ focusing on helping those in distress rather than engaging in occultism or false healing.
