Gabrielle Henry sues Miss Universe over 2025 stage fall

Gabrielle Henry, representing Jamaica at the 2025 Miss Universe pageant, has filed a lawsuit in Delaware Superior Court against the Miss Universe Organization, JKN Legacy Inc., and Legacy Holding Group USA. The legal action follows a severe accident that occurred on November 19, 2025, during the preliminary evening gown competition in Bangkok, Thailand.

According to the lawsuit, Henry fell approximately five feet through an unmarked and uncovered opening in the stage. The complaint alleges that intense stage lighting obscured her visibility and that the opening, which contained concrete and lighting equipment, lacked proper barricades, warning signs, or safety markers.

The fall resulted in significant medical complications, including a traumatic brain injury, acute subarachnoid hemorrhage, frontal lobe hemorrhagic contusion, and subdural hemorrhage. Henry, an ophthalmology resident, stated that the injuries have permanently altered her life and derailed her medical career. The lawsuit includes five counts: negligence, premises liability, negligent hiring, retention, and supervision, and the infliction of emotional distress.
