GAC Cambodia KD Plant begins local vehicle production

GAC Cambodia KD Plant vehicle assembly industrial transformation China-Cambodia cooperation

The GAC Cambodia KD Plant officially commenced production following an inauguration ceremony in Kampong Chhnang Province on September 17. The event was attended by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wenbin.

This project marks a transition for GAC from exporting complete vehicles to local manufacturing in Cambodia. Under a strategic partnership, TH Group is responsible for the plant's investment, construction, and vehicle assembly, while GAC provides complete knocked-down (CKD) kits, technical standards, and full-chain technical support. The facility has a designed annual capacity of approximately 10,000 units.

Prime Minister Hun Manet described the plant as a significant milestone for Cambodia’s industrial transformation, aimed at shifting the economy from labor-intensive industries toward high-skill, advanced-technology, and capital-driven sectors.
