Gaúcho culture celebrated during Semana Farroupilha in Portugal and Brazil
Traditional Gaúcho culture is being celebrated through various Semana Farroupilha events in both Portugal and Brazil.
In Portugal, the piquete Querência da Saudade in Braga is organizing a large-scale celebration in Vila Verde. Expected to draw over 700 attendees, the event includes a Farroupilha camp from September 18 to 20 and a main festival on September 19. The festivities feature traditional elements such as the Chama Crioula, chimarrão, and regional gastronomy, aiming to maintain cultural ties for the diaspora.
In Brazil, the CTG Querência Distante in Primavera do Leste is preparing for its 2026 Semana Farroupilha celebrations, scheduled from September 12 to 20. The program focuses on Jesuit-Guarani heritage and includes the lighting of the Chama Crioula, artistic gatherings, and a sand bocce tournament known as the Taça Farroupilha de Bocha de Areia.
