Gadchiroli district evacuates 525 people amid heavy flooding
Approximately 525 people have been evacuated to safer locations in the Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra following severe flooding. The flooding was triggered by heavy rainfall in the neighboring state of Chhattisgarh.
Rescue operations in the Bhamragad area, led by local administration and the NDRF, included the successful evacuation of an ailing student from the Binagonda Ashram School. While floodwaters have begun to recede and conditions are gradually improving, authorities have advised residents in low-lying areas and near riverbanks to remain alert.
In Chhattisgarh, continuous rainfall has caused the Kharun River to overflow, leading to waterlogging in villages across the Raipur and Durg districts and submerging roads connecting Raipur to Patan and Durg.
