Gadchiroli rail line completes successful speed trial

The South East Central Railway (SECR) Nagpur division has successfully completed the speed trial for the 49.50 km Wadsa-Armori broad gauge rail section. The inspection and trial, conducted on September 21, were overseen by CRS Sumit Singhal and Divisional Railway Manager Deepak Kumar Gupta.

This project marks the first time Gadchiroli district will be directly connected to the national rail network. The line passes through several rural and forested areas, including Wadsa, Kurud, Armori, Palora, Thanegaon, Wasala, Injewari, Deulgaon, Akapur, Kitali, and Churmura. The project, costing approximately 1,886 crore rupees, is a 50-50 partnership between the central and state governments.

Due to its location within the Kanha-Navegaon-Nagzira-Indravati tiger corridor, the project faced significant environmental and land acquisition challenges. Once operational, the rail link is expected to boost industrial development, particularly in the transport of minerals and steel, while improving access to education, healthcare, and major cities like Nagpur and Gondia.
