Gadsden authorities seize fentanyl and arrest eight in drug investigation

Authorities in Gadsden, Alabama, have arrested eight individuals following a four-month multi-agency narcotics investigation. The operation involved local, state, and federal agencies and resulted in raids at approximately eight locations.

During the investigation, officials seized 25 pounds of fentanyl, four ounces of methamphetamine, five firearms, a pill press, marijuana, three vehicles, and over $8,700 in cash. Etowah County District Attorney Jody Willoughby confirmed that the operation was completed without injuries to officers, suspects, or bystanders.

Five individuals face specific drug-trafficking allegations: Zuquavius Clay, Demetrie Borden, Alexis Buchanan, David Coat, and Larry Smith Jr. Three other individuals—Erica Watson, Brent Thomas, and Crystal Wells—were arrested on unrelated outstanding warrants for criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, and traffic violations. The investigation remains active, and officials noted that additional charges may be filed.
