Gaeta declares mourning after fatal road accident kills two young men

The community of Gaeta is mourning the loss of 19-year-old Pierluca Pascali, who died following a road accident occurring between Formia and Gaeta. The funeral service was held at the San Paolo Apostolo parish, attended by hundreds of young people and local residents.

The accident also claimed the life of 20-year-old Eugenio, a friend of Pascali, who passed away at the Policlinico di Tor Vergata in Rome 36 hours after the collision. The vehicle involved in the crash was a Smart Forfour driven by a 21-year-old woman from Scauri.

In response to the tragedy, Mayor Leccese has declared a period of city mourning, with flags flown at half-mast at the Town Hall and local businesses closing their shutters in solidarity with the grieving families.
