Gaeta robbery chase ends with arrests after high‑speed pursuit

On the night of 17 July, police and Carabinieri in the province of Caserta arrested one suspect and charged five accomplices for a robbery committed in Gaeta. The investigation, triggered by a report from the Gaeta police precinct, led to a high‑speed chase that stretched from the seaside town to the Carano district of Sessa Aurunca.

The fleeing vehicle was intercepted on the SS 7 Quater near Baia Domizia, where the driver accelerated, forced a police car off the road and attempted to evade capture. During the pursuit the occupants abandoned the vehicle, and one suspect assaulted officers with kicks, punches and a combat knife before being disarmed. Additional patrols subsequently located and detained two more suspects, ending the manhunt after about two hours.
