Gagasan Rakyat Sabah supports Hajiji’s 40 percent revenue claim

The Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) party has expressed full support for Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor’s stance regarding the state’s claim to 40 percent of net revenue. The party emphasizes that this claim is a constitutional right under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and the Federal Constitution, rather than a request for favor.

Party Information Chief Datuk Nizam Abu Bakar Titingan noted that the Chief Minister’s recent actions at the MA63 Implementation Action Council meeting demonstrate a commitment to turning discussions into tangible solutions for the people of Sabah. While the party welcomed the Federal Government’s decision to increase interim payments to Sabah to RM1.5 billion this year, it stressed that these payments do not resolve the underlying 40 percent revenue claim, which must still be finalized.

Additionally, the party supports increasing the parliamentary representation for Sabah and Sarawak to strengthen their voices within the institution. PGRS also called for accelerated Borneanization of the Federal civil service and the resolution of other outstanding matters under MA63 to ensure Sabah can more effectively manage its own interests.
