Gagauzia governor elections: Eight candidates registered for November vote

The Gagauzia Central Electoral Council has finalized the registration of candidates for the upcoming governor elections, scheduled for November 15. A total of eight candidates are officially entered in the race, including the most recently registered individuals: Ivanna Koksal, a former journalist and Socialist Party deputy; Serghei Anastasov, the current mayor of Comrat; and Oleg Garizan, the mayor of Copceac village.

Other registered candidates include Fiodor Gagauz, Alexandr Stoianoglo, Cornel Dudnic, Ivan Cîlcic, and Petru Vlah. The electoral council is expected to approve the ballot design and the order of candidates by October 14.

In conjunction with the candidate announcements, the Central Electoral Commission (CEC) is exploring measures to combat inauthentic behavior on social media during the campaign. Vice-president Pavel Postica stated that authorities are working on a draft law to regulate online conduct and may require candidates to sign a code of conduct to take responsibility for their digital campaign activities and prevent third-party interference.
