Eight candidates have submitted applications to run for the position of governor of Gagauzia. According to Svetlana Colesnic, interim president of the Gagauzia Central Electoral Commission (CECG), the group consists of six independent candidates and two supported by political parties.

The independent candidates include Cornel Dudnic, Alexandr Stoianoglo, Petru Vlah, Oleg Garizan, Ivanna Koksal, and Sergei Anastasov. The party-backed candidates are Ivan Cîlcic, representing the Gagauz People's Party, and Fiodor Gagauz, representing the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova.

The CECG is currently in the process of verifying subscription lists and candidate files. The deadline for submitting documents is October 6. Once a complete set of documents is received, the commission has seven days to decide on the registration or refusal of each candidate.
