Gagauzia regional election procedures approved by CEC

The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has approved the organizational and operational specifics for the upcoming regional elections in Gagauzia. These elections, which include votes for deputies in the People's Assembly of Gagauzia and the position of Governor (Bashkan), are scheduled to take place on November 15, 2026.

The approved document aims to clarify and standardize electoral procedures for both types of scrutiny. It establishes rules regarding the formation and activity of electoral bodies, the exercise of voting rights, candidate registration, and the financing of initiative groups and electoral competitors.

The Gagauzia Central Electoral Council will coordinate subordinate electoral bodies. Candidate registration for the People's Assembly will be handled by one of three first-level constituency electoral councils, while documents for the Governor position must be submitted directly to the Gagauzia Central Electoral Council. Voters may use passports or digital versions for identification, and supplementary lists will be available for those not on the primary electoral rolls.
