Gagauzia teachers may receive 300,000 lei incentive to teach in Romanian

The Ministry of Education and Research has published a draft project for public consultation that proposes a one-time allowance of 300,000 lei for teachers willing to teach in the Romanian language at UTA Gagauzia.

To qualify for the incentive, educators must commit to working at the assigned institution for at least five years. The measure applies to both novice and experienced teachers who hold appropriate higher education qualifications for the disciplines they teach. The allowance will be paid in two equal installments of 150,000 lei: the first by October 30 of the year of assignment, and the second six months later, provided the employment relationship is maintained.

If a recipient resigns voluntarily or is dismissed for personal reasons before the five-year period ends, they must repay the full amount. Exceptions to this repayment rule include maternity/childcare leave, death, medically confirmed incapacity, force majeure, or relocation approved by the Ministry.
