Gaggio Tech layoffs prompt calls for economic support in Apennine
Matteo Lepore, the Metropolitan Mayor of Bologna, has addressed the announcement of 79 layoffs at Gaggio Tech, describing the situation as a drama for the entire metropolitan community.
In response to the job losses, the Region has introduced a call for hiring individuals currently receiving unemployment benefits (Naspi), offering companies a contribution of 15,000 euros per worker hired.
To prevent further industrial decline in the Apennine region, Lepore is calling for national intervention on two fronts: the approval of a Special Economic Zone (ZES) to provide tax advantages and investment, and a formal agreement to modernize road and rail infrastructure.
