Gainesville man arrested for assaulting teenager after breaking through apartment wall

A 29-year-old man, identified as Obed Reyes, has been arrested following a violent intrusion at an apartment complex in Gainesville, Georgia. According to police, Reyes entered a family residence by smashing through a closet wall from a neighboring unit.

The attack targeted a 15-year-old girl who was at home with two young children, aged 5 and 7. Authorities allege that Reyes grabbed the teenager by her hair and punched her multiple times. The victim attempted to fight back and eventually reached an apartment breezeway to scream for help.

Gainesville police officers arrived while the assault was still in progress and intervened to separate the suspect from the victim. Investigators stated that the suspect and the victim were not known to each other. Reyes was taken into custody and transported to the Hall County Jail.
