Gainesville police arrest two men following domestic violence incidents

Two separate incidents of domestic-related violence resulted in arrests in Gainesville, Florida.

In the first incident, 54-year-old Larry James Fayson Jr. was arrested following an attack on a female relative. According to police reports, Fayson, who had been released from prison earlier in August, allegedly attacked the woman after she picked him up. The victim reported that Fayson became violent inside her apartment, damaging her phone, slapping her, and slamming her into objects. The report states that Fayson allegedly choked the victim until she lost consciousness.

In a second incident, 71-year-old Joseph Ryan was taken into custody after allegedly threatening to kill his longtime boyfriend with a rock. The encounter occurred at a gas station after the victim expressed a desire to end their 18-year relationship. Witnesses reported that Ryan yelled and picked up a rock roughly the size of a softball while making death threats, prompting the victim to flee into the station to call for help.
