Gajapati man's family donates organs following fatal hit-and-run

C H Jibaratnam, a 45-year-old carpenter from Odisha’s Gajapati district, has provided life-saving organs to multiple patients following a fatal hit-and-run accident.

Jibaratnam was walking toward Gangarajapuram village in Andhra Pradesh to visit family during heavy rain when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle near Jangalapadu village. After the collision, he was transported to the District Headquarters Hospital at Paralakhemundi and later moved to a private hospital in Srikakulam. He passed away after three days of critical treatment.

Following his death, his family chose to donate his heart, liver, kidneys, and other vital organs. The Andhra Pradesh government and hospital authorities honored the family for their decision. Jibaratnam was the sole provider for his wife and two children.
