Gajendra Chauhan critiques casting in upcoming Ramayana film

Actor Gajendra Chauhan, known for his role as Yudhishthira in the television series Mahabharat, has expressed reservations regarding the casting of major Bollywood stars in Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film, Ramayana. Chauhan argued that established actors with high public visibility may struggle to shed their existing personas to convincingly portray revered mythological figures.

In a recent interview, Chauhan noted that while Ranbir Kapoor’s appearance as Lord Ram was commendable, he was not impressed by certain aspects of the film's trailer. He specifically criticized the portrayal of Kaikeyi, played by Lara Dutta, suggesting that her modern styling and attire lacked the emotional weight and traditional authenticity found in previous mythological productions. Chauhan emphasized that for such roles, actors should ideally have less public exposure to allow audiences to accept them fully as the characters they portray.
