Gaël Fickou joins RC Toulon Toulon aiming for France World Cup comeback

French centre Gaël Fickou, 32, has signed with RC Toulon after a decade at Racing 92. The move is intended to revive his form and give him a chance to return to the France national team for the next Rugby World Cup. Fickou said he is focused on helping Toulon win and that any national selection would come naturally from strong club performances.

His international career has stalled since the autumn tests of 2025, with younger centres such as Yoram Moefana and Fabien Brau‑Boirie taking the inside‑centre role. Fickou hopes the new environment and increased playing time at Toulon will restore his standing ahead of the 2027 World Cup, though he stresses he did not join the club to chase a national call‑up.
