Gal Gadot’s ‘The Runner’ receives poor critical reviews on Prime Video

Gal Gadot’s new action thriller, ‘The Runner’, has debuted on Amazon Prime Video to widespread critical condemnation. The film, directed by Kevin Macdonald, follows Maia Marten, a London-based attorney whose life is upended when a mysterious caller kidnaps her diabetic son. To save him, she is forced to run across London to assassinate a star witness in a high-profile criminal case.

Critics have heavily panned the film, with Rotten Tomatoes scores dipping as low as 7% to 9%. Reviewers have described the production as a “festival of clichés” and a “low-quality” thriller that fails to deliver tension despite its high-stakes premise. Some critics noted that the film highlights the actress’s limitations in leading roles, while others called it an “amusingly bad” experience.

Despite the negative reception, the film has seen significant viewership, reaching the number one spot on Prime Video in Brazil. Gadot has shared that the production was physically and emotionally taxing, noting that she suffered foot injuries that required her to use crutches toward the end of filming.
