Gala – Obrovac Sinjski solar plant faces legal challenge
Environmental associations are calling on the Administrative Court in Split to issue an immediate stay of execution regarding the Gala – Obrovac Sinjski solar power plant project. The plaintiffs seek to halt the project's progress until a final judicial decision is reached on the legality of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition's decision to approve the site.
Environmental groups, including Sunce, Biom, Hyla, and Zelena akcija, argue that the project poses a risk of irreparable damage to the environment. They highlight deficiencies in the Environmental Impact Study, specifically regarding its assessment of water resources, protected species, and speleological objects. The proposed 248.5-hectare site is located in a karst area near the Kosinac water pumping station, a vital source of drinking water for the Cetina region.
