Galan Lithium ramps up production at Argentina's Hombre Muerto West project

Galan Lithium (ASX: GLN) has moved into the production ramp‑up and optimisation phase at its 100 % owned Hombre Muerto West (HMW) lithium‑brine project in Argentina after wet commissioning and the production of its first processed lithium chloride. Managing director Juan Pablo Vargas de la Vega said, “Following completion of Phase 1 construction, we successfully commissioned the HMW plant and produced our first processed lithium chloride.”

The company targets stabilised output of 4,000 tonnes of lithium‑carbonate‑equivalent (LCE) per year in 2026, with first sales of lithium‑chloride concentrate planned for the second half of 2026. About 10,000 t LCE is already stored in evaporation ponds to support the ramp‑up. Phase 1 capacity will be expanded to 5,200 t LCE per annum, with new pond construction set to begin in the September 2026 quarter and the uplift expected in early 2027. Galan ended the June 2026 quarter with A$35.5 million cash, no debt, and permits for a Phase 2 expansion to 21 ktpa LCE. Severe winter weather caused temporary operational pauses but no injuries.
