Galanta Hospital opens first psychiatric aftercare facility in Trnava Region

Penta Hospitals has opened the first psychiatric aftercare facility of its kind in the Trnava Region at the Galanta Hospital. The new department is designed to bridge the gap between acute hospitalization and a return to outpatient care or daily life, providing stabilization for patients who no longer require emergency intervention but still need intensive therapeutic support.

The facility features 20 beds in single and double rooms equipped with air conditioning and private bathrooms. It offers a variety of therapeutic approaches, including psychotherapy, art therapy, music therapy, bibliotherapy, and occupational therapy. A unique component of the treatment team is a five-year-old dog named Žemlička, who provides canine therapy for both pediatric and geriatric patients.

The expansion follows a significant investment exceeding 600,000 euros and aims to serve approximately 300 patients annually. The initiative responds to a growing regional demand for mental health services, particularly following an increase in anxiety and depressive disorders.
