Galanz recalls 10,000 retro refrigerators in Canada over fire risk

Health Canada has issued a recall for 10,045 Galanz Retro Refrigerators due to fire and burn hazards. The manufacturer warned that internal electrical components may short circuit and ignite, posing a “risk of serious injury or death.”

The recalled units are red, 7.6 cu. ft. capacity models measuring approximately 147 cm high, 61 cm deep, and 53 cm wide. They were sold in Canada between December 2018 and December 2020. As of September 21, two incidents have been confirmed, though no injuries have been reported.

Consumers are urged to stop using the appliances immediately, unplug them, and contact the manufacturer for a free in-home repair. Affected models include GLR76TRDER, BCD-215VF-C-62H, and BCD-215VF-D-62H.
