Galatasaray faces internal criticism amid €100 million transfer drive

Comedian and club board member Şahan Gökbakar used social media to harshly criticize Galatasaray’s transfer silence, prompting some board members to draft a petition to expel him from the club.

The board is reportedly allocating about €100 million for the summer window, aiming to sign two world‑class players, while also negotiating a loan‑to‑buy deal for 22‑year‑old midfielder Lesley Ugochukwu. The agreement would cost €3 million up‑front with a possible €25 million mandatory purchase clause, bringing the total to roughly €30 million.

Defensive stalwart Victor Nelsson is set to leave the club, with Galatasaray expecting a €10 million transfer fee. At the same time, Galatasaray is tracking Senegalese midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, who is also being pursued by England’s Brentford.

These moves come as the club prepares to defend its domestic title and compete in the UEFA Champions League.
