Galatasaray celebrates 26th league title in Brussels, launches European fan diaspora

Galatasaray celebrated its 26th Turkish Süper Lig title with a high‑profile event in Brussels. The gathering, organized by the Belgian Galatasaray Fans Association, began at the Grand Place municipal building and was attended by club president Dursun Aydın Özbek, board member Eray Yazgan, Brussels mayor Philippe Close, and Belgian club Anderlecht president Michael Verschueren. Turkish diplomatic representatives – ambassador Görkem Barış Tantekin and consul‑general Onur Sevim – also participated, and former Belgian international Dries Mertens joined the festivities.

During speeches Özbek highlighted the celebration as a symbol of growing friendship between Belgium and Turkey and announced plans to expand a "Galatasaray diaspora" across Europe, with initiatives already underway in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Austria and Switzerland. He pledged to unite supporters under a common banner and hinted at preparations for the club’s next title chase. The event underscored both the sporting achievement and broader cultural ties fostered by the club’s fan community.

The celebration concluded with the presentation of the championship cup, a symbolic visit to the Manneken Pis statue dressed in Galatasaray colours, and a dinner where Özbek affirmed the club’s readiness for a 27th championship.
