Galatasaray secures win amid Leao injury and squad overhaul rumors

Galatasaray secured a 1-0 away victory against Gençlerbirliği in the Trendyol Süper Lig, with Deniz Gül scoring the decisive goal in the 88th minute. Despite the win, the match was overshadowed by an injury to star player Rafael Leao, who suffered a groin strain after slipping on the pitch in the 77th minute. The club is awaiting further medical results to determine the severity of the injury.

The victory has also intensified discussions regarding the club's squad management. Reports indicate that Galatasaray management and technical director Okan Buruk are considering significant changes during the January transfer window. Three high-cost players—Leroy Sane, İlkay Gündoğan, and Kaan Ayhan—are reportedly on the list for potential departure due to underwhelming performances and a combined annual cost of approximately 19.5 million euros. Specifically, Sane's lack of goal or assist contributions and perceived attitude on the pitch have been noted as points of concern.
