Galatasaray pursues Jhon Duran amid stalled Icardi talks
Turkish champions Galatasaray are close to signing Colombian forward Jhon Duran, a former Fenerbahçe striker. Coach Okan Buruk backs the move, noting Duran fits the U23 foreign‑player rule and the club has offered a salary of €4‑5 million per year. The transfer is expected to be finalized once the situation with Argentine striker Mauro Icardi is resolved.
Icardi, whose contract expires at the end of the month, is in a dispute with the club’s hierarchy. He asked for a guaranteed playing schedule, which president Dursun Özbek rejected, stating the club cannot promise a set number of matches. Galatasaray offered Icardi a €5 million‑per‑year deal, but he has not responded. He finished the previous season with 16 goals and three assists in 47 appearances.
