Galatasaray says No Intention to Sell Victor Osimhen, Turns to Him for Lookman Pursuit

President Dursun Özbek told reporters that Galatasaray has no plan to sell striker Victor Osimhen, saying “Osimhen'i satmak gibi bir niyetimiz yok” (“We have no intention to sell Osimhen”). The 27‑year‑old Nigerian joined permanently for €75 million and earns €21 million a year, and the club says his happiness and the team’s interests come first.

At the same time Galatasaray is targeting another Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman, who currently plays for Atlético Madrid. The Turkish champions have asked Osimhen to act as an informal mediator to convince Lookman to join Istanbul. Lookman has scored five goals and provided four assists in 24 matches this season, helping Atlético reach the Champions League semi‑finals and the Copa del Rey final. Atlético is expected to resist any high‑profile departure, and Galatasaray would need a creative financial package to bridge the wage gap.

The club’s dual approach highlights its strategy of retaining star players while leveraging them to attract additional talent.
