Galatasaray extends Okan Buruk’s contract and eyes Victor Osimhen among major transfer targets
Galatasaray president Dursun Özbek has confirmed a two‑year extension of coach Okan Buruk’s contract, doubling his salary in Turkish lira. The club’s board also agreed to let Nicolo Zaniolo, Carlos Cuesta, Victor Nelsson and Elias Jelert leave, while negotiations continue for several potential signings.
The Turkish side is in talks with Germany’s Eintracht Frankfurt over young midfielder Can Uzun, though a high transfer fee is a stumbling block. It is also preparing official contact with Denmark’s Midtjylland for 19‑year‑old winger Aral Şimşir. If Mauro Icardi departs, the club plans to move for Colombian forward Jhon Duran.
In parallel, Galatasaray’s transfer agenda includes interest in Virgil van Dijk, for which a sponsor is being sought, and a reported pursuit of Atletico Madrid striker Ademola Lookman after he was placed on the Spanish club’s sale list.
Victor Osimhen remains the headline target. English Premier League clubs Chelsea and Manchester United have shown interest, but his high wage demands have caused them to back away and no formal offer has reached Galatasaray. Chelsea is reportedly ready to bid up to £85 million (around €98 million), while Galatasaray is said to demand close to €100 million for the Nigerian striker.
These developments are part of Galatasaray’s broader strategy to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season, aiming for a fifth consecutive league title and a strong Champions League campaign.
