Galatasaray to retain Victor Osimhen and pursue Can Uzun

Galatasaray has decided to retain Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen beyond the current summer transfer window. Despite significant interest and high-value offers from major European clubs, including a reported €125 million bid from Atlético Madrid and inquiries from Manchester United, the Turkish champions intend to build their upcoming campaign around the 27-year-old.

Osimhen is under contract until June 2029 with no release clause. Additionally, a clause from his move from Napoli could impose a €70 million penalty on Galatasaray if he is sold to a Serie A club before September 2027. The club reportedly plans to appoint him as captain and assign him the number 9 shirt.

In tandem with securing Osimhen, Galatasaray is pursuing Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Can Uzun to bolster its attacking options. Former coach Christian Martin suggested that Uzun’s creative vision would complement Osimhen’s physicality and movement. While negotiations for the 20-year-old are ongoing, a valuation gap remains between Frankfurt’s €60 million asking price and Galatasaray’s reported interest in a deal worth approximately €35 million plus bonuses.
