Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8 price hikes as chip costs rise

Samsung is expected to raise the price of its upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 foldable smartphones, especially for the 512 GB and 1 TB storage variants. The base model of the Z Fold 8 is projected to stay around $1,999, but higher‑capacity versions could see a noticeable increase due to rising costs of chips and RAM memory.

The price pressure comes as Samsung faces tighter chip‑supply economics and growing competition from Chinese manufacturers such as Oppo, whose Find N6 offers a large battery and Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset at a lower price. Samsung will need to justify the premium of its foldables through software, durability and ecosystem benefits, with a possible launch event slated for July, potentially in London.
