Galeatro launches 'Os muíños no camiño' theater project celebrating Camino de Santiago mills

The Galician theatre company Galeatro will debut its new project “Os muíños no camiño” in August. The initiative blends performing arts, short audiovisual videos and social‑media outreach to highlight the historic watermills that dot the Camino de Santiago routes. It is funded by the Xunta de Galicia through the “O teu Xacobeo” programme, part of the region’s tourism strategy and the 2022‑2027 Camino Master Plan.

The project focuses on three mills – A Gándara in Vilasantar (Camino del Norte), Callobre in Miño (Camino Inglés) and Os Muíños in Muxía (Camino de Fisterra). Galeatro will turn each site into a temporary stage for the family‑friendly play “Muiñada”, starring Alba Bermúdez and Tone Martínez, which tells the story of Sabela and Xacobe. Multidisciplinary artist Carlota Mosquera will create the audiovisual “pills” that explain the mills’ origins and promote the event, especially to younger audiences.
