Galeri Indonesia Kaya stages musical to mark 13th anniversary

To celebrate its 13th anniversary, Galeri Indonesia Kaya (GIK) presented the musical production “Menanggung Dua Panggung” at Grand Indonesia, Jakarta. The performance featured 15 young talents from the third batch of the Ruang Kreatif Intensif Musikal Budaya (RKIMB) program.

The musical, written by Aprilia Ramadhina, Jessica Gabriella, and Widya Arifianti, follows the story of Ranting, a theater actor struggling to balance professional work responsibilities with his passion for the stage. The production utilized a jukebox musical format, incorporating various popular songs including “Keroncong Kemayoran,” “Semua Ini Untuk Apa,” “Makin Lelah,” and “Sempurnanya Aku.”

The participants in the production completed an eight-month intensive training program, which included advanced musical training with West End Stage in London. The performance serves as a showcase for the regeneration of musical theater talent in Indonesia.
