Galia Green Power begins corn silage campaign in Michałowo

Galia Green Power has commenced its corn silage campaign at its biogas plant in Michałowo, Poland. The facility has already secured 25,000 tons of corn silage, with the silo filling process expected to last approximately four weeks.

The substrate is sourced from several local farms. To ensure high-quality biogas production, the corn is chopped into 2–3 cm pieces and layered in silos, where it is tightly compressed to minimize air exposure and prevent spoilage. The facility monitors dry matter content, aiming for an optimal level of 30–33%.

After being covered with silage film to facilitate the fermentation process, the material undergoes a two-month acidification period before being used as a substrate for biogas production.
