Valencian Government Allocates €65 Million for DANA Flood Recovery

The Generalitat Valenciana approved more than €65 million to accelerate the restoration of hydraulic infrastructure damaged by the October 2024 DANA storm. A contract worth €56.4 million was awarded to TRAGSA to clean and rebuild riverbeds and banks in the Turia, Magro, Poyo and Picassent basins. An additional €8.7 million will fund the second phase of emergency works on the Buseo dam, strengthening its structure, monitoring systems and access routes. The programme, scheduled for up to 48 months, also includes removal of fallen trees, vegetation clearing, and reinforcement of river margins to reduce future flood risk. The regional government emphasised that protecting the territory and supporting affected residents are top priorities, and it called on the central government to complete pending safety plans for state‑owned reservoirs.
