Galicia allocates over €4 million to transport fleet upgrades and social aid programmes

The regional government of Galicia has earmarked more than €3.5 million to modernise transport fleets in the province of Ourense. The funding, sourced from NextGenerationEU and additional state resources, will support 109 local companies, with 104 grants for vehicle scrappage and five for the purchase of low‑emission vehicles. Deputy regional delegate Manuel Pardo visited the Autocares Pérez facilities to highlight the programme’s aim of accelerating decarbonisation in road transport.

In the city of Vigo, the municipal council renewed cooperation agreements with five social organisations, committing €546 000 for the 2026‑2029 period. The funds will sustain food‑assistance programmes, support the Sahrawi‑children summer‑vacation project, and back other initiatives for families at risk of exclusion. Vigo also continues its annual €120 000 contribution to the local Food Bank and maintains a €1.028 million budget for the city’s municipal shelter, which provides accommodation and meals to people in need.
