Galicia and Navarre Clubs Boost Representation in Spanish Basketball Leagues
Galicia will field two teams – Básquet Coruña and Obradoiro – in the 2024‑25 Liga ACB season, making the region the second‑largest contributor of clubs after Catalonia. This marks the third time in history that Galicia has had multiple representatives in Spain’s top basketball division, following previous peaks in the early 1990s.
In Navarre, the Valle de Egüés basketball team is reorganising after a recent relegation from the second‑tier FEB. The club will compete in the Tercera FEB for the 2026‑27 campaign, focusing on a locally‑sourced roster, seeking a new sponsor, and searching for a head coach. It aims to retain its core Navarrese players while promoting talent from its second team. Meanwhile, fellow regional side Megacalzado Ardoi also returns to Tercera FEB, targeting a stable season and a higher league finish.
