Galicia announces 6 million euro aid for dual-use manufacturing SMEs
The Xunta de Galicia has announced a new 6 million euro funding line specifically designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the security, defense, and aerospace sectors. This initiative aims to incentivize dual-use manufacturing, which involves producing technological goods and services that are compatible with both civil and defense applications.
The program is part of the Strategic Initiative for Security, Defense, and Aerospace (IESDA), which seeks to mobilize approximately 900 million euros in public-private investment by 2030. While previous funding rounds included large and medium-sized companies, this new phase focuses on SMEs by offering more agile requirements tailored to their scale.
President Alfonso Rueda stated that the goal is for Galicia to leverage its potential to manufacture increasingly strategic and high-demand products. Previous programs under this strategy have already mobilized 47.8 million euros, with SMEs accounting for 63.6% of the aid requested in earlier calls.
