Galicia business federations push EU and Spain to speed up Atlantic Corridor rail project

The Confederation of Entrepreneurs of Galicia (CEG), together with the business federations of Asturias and León, held meetings in Brussels with members of the European Parliament’s Transport Committee and the Atlantic Corridor coordinator. They urged the EU and the Spanish central government to accelerate the implementation of the Atlantic Corridor, describing it as a "fundamental infrastructure" for Galicia’s competitiveness, territorial cohesion and integration into the main European markets.

The groups demanded a definitive master plan that details investments, actions and timelines, including coordination with Portugal. They highlighted the need to complete pending rail works—such as the Vigo‑Ourense‑Monforte and A Coruña‑Lugo‑Monforte connections—and to finalize high‑speed passenger links between Galicia’s major cities and the Spanish plateau, insisting that efficient, sustainable rail links are essential for freight and passenger traffic.
