Galicia experiences extreme temperature contrasts between coast and interior

Galicia has experienced extreme temperature variations due to geographic differences and shifting weather fronts. In the coastal town of Burela, temperatures remained mild, staying between 21.5 and 24.6 degrees Celsius for a seven-day period from August 14 to August 20. This coastal moderation is attributed to the Cantabrian Sea acting as a thermal regulator.

In contrast, the inland province of Ourense faced intense heat, with temperatures reaching a peak of 42.1 degrees Celsius on August 18. However, recent cloudy skies and intermittent rainfall have provided thermal relief to the region, bringing maximum temperatures down to approximately 27 degrees Celsius. While temperatures in Ourense are expected to moderate, weather patterns indicate a return of precipitation starting next Monday.
