Galicia government allocates €445,000 to fisheries co‑ops and renews waste‑transfer plant partnership

The Xunta de Galicia and the public waste‑management firm Sogama renewed a four‑year cooperation agreement with the Mancomunidade do Morrazo for the A Portela waste‑transfer plant. The new deal provides €615,504 based on an estimated 24,200 tonnes of non‑recyclable waste per year and integrates the plant into Sogama’s digital tracking system to give municipalities real‑time data on waste handling.

Separately, Conselleira do Mar Marta Villaverde signed two collaboration agreements allocating a total of €293,000 to fisheries organisations: €152,000 to the Galician Federation of Fishermen’s Cofradías and €141,000 to the Provincial Federation of A Coruña. The funds will support daily operations, energy‑efficiency upgrades, connectivity improvements, new administrative equipment and training in artificial‑intelligence applications for environmental monitoring.
