Galicia government presents 700‑point language plan, opening possibility of all subjects taught in Galician

The Xunta de Galicia introduced an updated General Plan for the Normalisation of the Galician Language, a document of more than 400 pages containing about 700 measures aimed at strengthening the use of Galician over the next decade.

The plan proposes that any school subject could be taught in Galician, but only if political unanimity is achieved. It also seeks to modernise the 1983 language law, expand Galician use in administration, justice, digital platforms and youth programmes, and allocate budget for implementation. The draft was prepared by over 130 experts across 11 sectoral commissions. It was presented at a public event in Santiago de Compostela attended by around 800 people, including Culture Minister José López Campos, who called the document a "road map" and urged all parliamentary groups to reach consensus.
